Bengkulu | Sejarah Tabot | Budaya Bengkulu

SEJARAH PESTA BUDAYA TABOT

Download Drivers for Asus Eee Box B202

Like the Eee PC, the Eee Box is sold as a complete PC. It was shown at Computex Taipei in June. We ran a preview of the product then. At that point, the anticipated price was lower: $269 for a 1GB memory + 80GB HDD Linux edition, $299 for a 1GB memory + 80GB HDD XP edition and $299 for a 2GB memory + 160GB HDD Linux edition. The sample that came to SPCR is the second of the configurations mentioned above, but the price has gone up by $50, and the Linux versions have been eliminated.

The basic technology inside is similar to Intel's Atom-based mini-ITX board, the D945GCLF which we reviewed last week. The CPU is a mobile variant, although how much less power that would draw is questionable, as the "desktop" Atom 230 maxes out at 4W. The Intel board uses the relatively inefficient 945GC chipset, which was first used on the Mac Mini. Apparently, the chipset in the Eee Box is the 945GSE Express, designed for mobile PCs, but still equipped with the same Intel GMA 950 video chip. Being a mobile chipset, the 945GSE Express may have lower power requirements than the 945GC, which is promising. Given the 945GSE Express chipset, the Eee Box is actually closer to the Eee PC than to the Intel D945GCLF m-ITX board.

Tutorial Installing Ubuntu 9.10

Ubuntu 9.10, also known as the Karmic Koala, arrived exactly on October 29, 2009 and is the eleventh release of Ubuntu OS. We've created the following tutorial to teach Linux newcomers how to install the Ubuntu 9.10 operating system on their personal
computer. Therefore, it is addressed to people who have just heard about Ubuntu, those who have never installed Ubuntu before and want to test it, but don't know how.

The tutorial will make things very simple for you, but if you get stuck somewhere in the middle of the installation and you need help, do not hesitate to use our commenting system at the end of the article!

Requirements:

You will need the Ubuntu 9.10 Desktop ISO image that corresponds to your hardware architecture (i386 or amd64), and which can be downloaded from here. When the download is over, burn the ISO image with your favorite CD/DVD burning application (Nero, CDBurnerXP, Roxio) on a blank CD at 8x speed.

Reinsert or leave the CD in your CD/DVD-ROM device and reboot the computer in order to boot from the CD. Hit the F8, F11 or F12 key (depending on your BIOS) to select the CD/DVD-ROM as the boot device.

1. Select your language when asked...
2. Select the second option "Install Ubuntu," and hit the "Enter" key... Wait for the CD to load into RAM...
3. You will see the wallpaper for a few seconds. When the installer appears, you will be able to select your native language for the entire installation process. Click the "Forward" button to continue...

Where are you?

The second screen will feature a map of the Earth. Upon the selection of your current location, the time for the final system will adjust accordingly. You can also select your current location from the drop down list situated at the bottom of the window. Click the "Forward" button after you have selected your desired location...

Test your keyboard

On the third screen, you will be able to choose a desired keyboard layout. But the default automatic selection should work for most of you. Click the "Forward" button when you have finished with the keyboard configuration...

Hard disk partitioning

You have four options here:

1. If you have another operating system (e.g. Windows XP) and you want a dual boot system, select the first option: "Install them side by side, choosing between them at each startup."
2. If you want to delete your existing operating system, or the hard drive is already empty and you want to let the installer automatically partition the hard drive for you, select the second option, "Use the entire disk."
3. The third choice is "Use the largest continuous free space" and it will install Ubuntu 9.10 in the unpartitioned space on the selected hard drive.

4. The fourth choice is "Specify partitions manually" and it is recommended ONLY for advanced users, to create special partitions or format the hard drive with other filesystems than the default one. But it can also be used to create a /home partition, which is very useful in case of reinstalling the whole system.

Here's how you do a manual partitioning with /home:

- Select the "Specify partitions manually (advanced) and click the "Forward" button;

- Make sure that the selected hard drive is the right one. /dev/sda is the first physical hard drive. /dev/sdb is the second hard drive in your machine. So, make sure that you know which is the one you want to format! Otherwise, you will lose ALL YOUR DATA on that hard drive;

- Let's say that the selected drive is empty (no other operating system or important data on it), but it has some partitions on it. Select each one of those partitions and click the "Delete" button. After a few seconds, it will say "free space". Do this with the other partitions from the selected hard drive, until they're all deleted and you have a single "free space" line;

- With the "free space" line selected, click on the "Add" button. In the new window, type 2000 in the "New partition size in megabytes" field and select the "swap area" option from the "Use as:" drop down list. Click the OK button and, in a few seconds, you'll notice a "swap" line with the specified size;

- With the "free space" line selected, click on the "Add" button. In the new window, select the "Primary" option, type a value between 10,000 and 50,000 in the "New partition size in megabytes" field and select / as the "Mount point". Click the OK button and in a few seconds, you'll notice an "ext4 /" line with the specified size;

- With the "free space" line selected, click on the "Add" button. In the new window, select the "Primary" option, type a value between 30,000 and 50,000 (or whatever space you have left on the drive) in the "New partition size in megabytes" field and select /home as the "Mount point." Click the OK button and, in a few seconds, you'll notice an "ext4 /home" line with the specified size.

Who are you?

On this screen, you must do exactly what the title says. Fill in the fields with your real name, the name you want to use to log in on your Ubuntu OS (also known as the "username," which will be required to log in to the system), the password and the name of the computer (automatically generated, but can be overwritten).

Are you really ready for Ubuntu?

This is the final step of the installation. Here, you can select to install the boot loader on another partition or hard drive than the default one, but it is only recommended for advanced users. If someone is installing to a USB memory stick, as if it was a USB hard drive, then they should know that the installer will mess with their computer's hard disk drive MBR (thanks to Donald for the info on this one!).

Why Do We Do This to Ourselves

A friend was going through a rough time, so I asked her over for a weekend get together. Nothing fancy, we would do campfire hot dogs with chips and later indulge in our favorite Latte maybe even ice cream.

Sounded simple until I thought about inviting 6 other mutual friends who I knew would support her and suddenly a new image crept in. I started to notice things like the fire pit needed cleaning, the patio furniture needed painting and suddenly hot dogs and chips (simple) did not seem appropriate. In my mind I created a menu that would take me hours to prepare. The house would definitely need a through cleaning and where would I find the time to shop for my new menu?

As my husband was heading out for his game of golf I got even more irritated and asked him to help me get ready for the evening. He stopped and looked at me and said "okay, but just so you know I would never do this to myself." This gave me something to think about. Why was I doing this to myself? It started out as a great intention of comforting a friend, now I had made it into a huge project for myself. My friends would never judge me, my house or the food they were being served. I judged myself.

As the evening progressed I saw my friend relaxing and joining in with our friends who were laughing and sharing stories. No one noticed the repainted furniture however the hot dogs and chips were a great success.

Why do we as women take a simple gesture and turn it into a project for ourselves? We nurture others yet are so hard on ourselves with trying to have everything perfect. Why do we do this to ourselves, is it having to prove that we are super women and can do it all with perfection? Maybe it is time to refocus on the important things in life.

Inisiatif Energi Alternatif

Recently, I attended an Alternative Energy Convention - one of many I attended over the last few years. It seems like these type of conventions are getting more and longer every month. My opinion is that that these conventions are held so often nowadays because the Global Warming Crisis that we are facing is growing more rapidly than scientists initially anticipated.

What worries me is that at all these conventions, the "clever" people and the "powers-that-be" agree that our needs (and "wants") are outpacing what Mother Earth can provide. They all agree that we must look into initiatives to generated cleaner, greener alternative energy sources. Some of them had ideas of using currents in the ocean, some agree that the wind is the answer and some look at the sun. The truth is that most of them went back home in there energy-thirsty 4-track vehicles, not to ever think of their noble ideas again.

A attend these conventions because I am an engineer in appliances that generatate sustainable alternative energy for big corporations - even in the oil industry. I asked many times, but not once did I get a turn to speak or to air my opinion at a convention. You see, I'm not a scientist, politician, or a chairman of an organization that wants to save the earth - I'm merely a person with an interest in doing what these meetings are called for - that is generating alternative energy.

What these "know-alls-but-do-nothings" do not realize is that alternative energy is not only limited to corporations, but that the small guy, the individual, can also contribute. The challenge is to "school" people and to promote the idea. It is not just about driving hybrid cars, and doing recycling - it is more about our own efforts to "whip" the energy, oil, and manufacturing industry (I'm convinced that many of these conventions are held by them, anyway).

Well, I already decided a few years ago that "charity" begins at home and I started to research small-sized appliances of generating alternative energy - something that any family can afford. My research lead me to the Internet and I was pleasantly surprized that many websites provide resources that teach you how to build your own appliances to generate alternative energy.

However....Since I began with my quest to find an inexpensive solution all those years ago, I've been through literally every emotion imaginable - frustration... anger... jubilation! Eventually, and after a lot of hard work, I did filter out the best resources on the Internet and ever since then I'm generating enough energy to go 'off-grid' - that's right I "whipped" the energy company - they're not getting a dime from me anymore. Now, all of a sudden, I'm also "smart" enough to be invited as guest speaker at conventions and seminars about alternative energy!

See, nowadays, trying to find the resources to make your own energy is difficult because there are so many guides, videos, and websites on the market to choose from and unless you have the time and money to test them out, you're basically going to go round in circles....and potentially lose a lot of money.

Added to my quest to "go green", I'm saving $1000s a year on energy bills! In the last year or two I focussed on small-sized energy saving appliances for the average household. I'm also often asked to do reviews of products and training material about this subject.

I came to realize that "charity" realy starts at home, and that home is Earth. I also believe that we shouldn't look or drill deep down into a hole to find our energy - let's look up - after all the sun has enough sustainable energy to shine on all of us.
